At the Oberson House of Design with Gideon and Karen Oberson

Designer Gideon Obserson is somewhat of a legend in the swimwear world. Designing womenswear since the 70s, his swimsuits were the stuff that Miami Vice-era dream girls were made of. While in Tel Aviv this spring, I stopped by the Oberson House of Design on Gordon street and met with the designer, and his daughter Karen (designer of her own line as well, KO). Gideon Oberson is well known internationally, for his swimwear and being the head designer for Gottex, but the Oberson House of Design is one of Israel’s hidden gems! The Oberson Design House is a hub, an incubator if you will of amazing design talent. The concept store exhibits a curated collection of sculptures and accessories from an international roster of artist. The space itself is a beautiful testament to Oberson’s appreciation of architecture with beautiful curves of sanded wood and modern light fixtures. I was thrilled to find out all of the apparel for sale in the store was made in the building, from the ready-to-wear to the couture, pret-a-porter and swimwear. I even got a sneak peak into some new designs and the atelier.
