Travel Beauty Essentials: Kiehl’s Refreshing Mist

I’m heading off to Milan — like literally typing this in the airport — and my new favorite travel essential as of late is my Kiehl’s Refreshing Mist from their Travel-Tested Solutions line. Being on an airplane a lot can be rough on my skin. I feel like the Obama before and after 8 years of presidency photos during my international flights! To prevent this I’m always sure to drink tons water to re-hydrate during flights (ladies, while tempting, boozing on flights is particularly bad for us, air pressure etc.) In line with this, I’m also constantly on the look out for a great facial mist. Since discovering Kiehl’s Travel-Tested Solutions collection, this Refreshing Mist has been my go to. I love the fresh scent of the Lavender, Rosemary, and Geranium essential oils in this concoction. It not only is a quick wake-me-up with Tibetan Ginseng and Cactus Flower, but also detoxifies and purifies skin — so necessary on petri planes ;). No one wants to come off of an airplane looking exhausted and haggard …

So I had this idea…

Upon hearing about BedStuy concept store, Sincerely, Tommy and meeting the owner, Kai Avent-deLeon, I knew I wanted her ‘Nomad story on ’N A Perfect World…. She was an intelligent, well travelled, black woman from Brooklyn — what’s there not to love. This also simultaneously was happening while I was meeting with a publishing house and close friend in the film industry about developing video content for you guys. Naturally, with Sincerely, Tommy being such an awesome space, Kai being so beautiful and rad, it was a perfect jumping point for the video series, ’N A Perfect World Hangs, where I bring you guys along as I explore different cultures and communities with a curated group of locals as my guides. Exciting right?! Well, schedules couldn’t align, my awesome friend in the film industry seemingly was on a never ending Diplo music video set and I was so excited to shoot Kai that I went rogue. I got a skeleton crew together of beginners at this, just like me (my always inspiring friend, Naomi Bishop, …

Video: ‘N A Perfect World Hangs with Sincerely, Tommy in Bedstuy

Although New York, London, Milan and Paris are the international main attractions, trust me, it’s always fashion week somewhere. No one knows this better than Brooklyn based concept store owner Kai Avent DeLeon. You may have seen Kai gracing the pages of Lucky, W and countless other fashion glossies and trust us, this girl is on the rise. I love a concept store. No trip to Milan is complete without a few hours in 10 Corso Como and in Paris, I always have to hit up Colette. When I heard about Sincerely, Tommy in Bedstuy, BK, and about how Kai travels the world hand picking designers to carry in her store, I had to check it out. Check out the video below as Kai and I talk Sincerely, Tommy, international design, traveling as young black women, BK and everything in between (or as much as I can show you in 5 minutes). Special thanks to Kai Avent-DeLeon and Sincerely, Tommy, Jordan Harrison, Aaron Purkey, Naomi Bishop, Simone Carter. Come back tomorrow and let me take …

The Hippy Van is coming Back!

Road-trip aficionados and nostalgic millennial flower children can rejoice! Volkswagen just re-released the cult favorite van after stopping production in Brazil in 2013 due to the vans failure to meet safety regulations (they stopped making them in Germany in 1979). The updated van will be released at the Consumer Electronics Show in January because, get this: It’s going to be electric with a range of 250 miles per charge (there will be gasoline & diesel versions available)! During an announcement earlier this week, much to fans delight, the Volkswagen development chief Hans-Jakob Neusser cited the commitment to a lot of the original aesthetic design features, calling the original “so iconic” that any attempt at a new model would have to have three “very important” design cues: “First the wide, solid, D-Pillar, second the boxy design of the center section and, thirdly, the front end must have a very short overhang. The distance from the A-pillar to the front end must be very short.” It’s going to be produced in Puebla, Mexico. I can definitely see …

Video: Kissable Lips! (and other must-haves)

This is the last video of our travel make up series and it’s all about my favorite body part, the LIPS! While I love a bold lip, for my day-to-day, I usually prefer a stain, Simone Carter teaches me how to turn my favorite MAC lipstick, Pure Heroine into a stain. She also fills me in on the 3 must-haves for my day bag while I’m on vacation. Watch to find out what you need for the vacay perfect selfie! Also, as a side note guys, I’m on Periscope @Nneya. So get ready for so much TMI!!! Woo!
