I’ll admit it, I can be pretty nostalgic for places or times I’ve never lived in, like Owen Wilson’s character in Midnight in Paris. So when someone told me about Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain in a 1920s apothecary store in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, I began daydreaming about first dates over ice-cream floats.
A soda jerk (really, that’s what you call them) made me my first ice-cream float, the Island Life — I don’t know how he knew — with pineapple soda and coconut ice-cream and sharing it with Vij was every bit as magical as first dates in my day dreams! Brooklyn Farmacy is the kind of place that neighborhood ladies meet for knitting circles, stay-at-home dads bring their toddlers for lunch, kids stop by for an ice-cream float. Even though it’s a destination spot serving people around the world that ended up there after seeing it on Food Network or in a movie or magazine, it still has that neighborhood feel and why I love Brooklyn. You should definitively check it out.
