It’s the time of year when TV gets really dull and everything’s on repeat or year-end count downs. Kind of a drag. I can think of a better way to pass the time… planning what you’re going to wear for New Year’s Eve! While it’s safe to say that I usually spend my New Year’s of late in the beaches / jungles of Sayulita, Mexico whether I’m in Sayu’ or NYC, I can’t help but to wear something a little sparkly for New Year. Maybe every bit of that bright and shiny holds my hopes for the new year. Let me help you welcome a brighter 2017, and let’s start setting those intentions with a little shine…
If you’re spending New Year’s Eve on the beach like me, there’s still no reason to shirk on the shine. Take a beachy cut-off denim skirt and cami look to the next level like I plan to with this Tibi gold sequinned cami and Marc Jacobs embellished denim skirt. My favorite bag shape is a drawstring mini (you’d be shocked how much you can fit in these guys, Mary Poppins style) and I’ve always loved Les Petit Joueurs luxe take on them.
Let’s mix things up now and do a complete about face. Say you’re going to a proper New Year’s Eve ball. Well a gown can be done to death. There can be nothing chicer that borrowing from the boys with tuxedo dressing. Keep with the New Year shine with a sequinned Veronica Beard tuxedo jacket and Alexander McQueen flared tuxedo pants.
Sometimes designers send those amazing show stopping looks down the runway and you just have to have them. Question is, “Where will I wear this?” We can’t think of a better way to start the year than in one of these pieces, like a fuchsia sequinned Saint Laurent stretch jumpsuit a la Kylie Jenner Krismas!
You and your crew might be keeping it casual, but that’s no reason to hold back on the sparkle. Whether you’re staying in or keeping it low key, you’re sure to stand out with these statement pieces, a Topshop sequinned top, unique Mercedes Salazar earrings and of-the-moment Gucci loafers!
Get my look and stay on trend with these pieces: a velvet slip dress and block-heeled boot and throw on a splurge-worthy statement piece like this gorgeous Fendi fur stole to keep warm!
And if you’re as slip dress mad as I am, here are some options to make your chic look, winter ready.
