Rihanna & Drake’s double ‘Work’ video made waves and brought dancehall culture to a wide segment of the population that had never been exposed to it. Like the lyrics, setting and dance moves, a trademark of West Indian culture displayed in the video is what Rih Rih was wearing: a net dress and crochet bikini set from Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring 2016 runway collection, a collection heavily influenced by West Indian culture and said to be inspired by Tommy Hilfiger’s island home in Mustique. You can buy Tommy’s version for hundreds of dollars but I knew better. ;). I’ve seen men wearing marina’s my whole life, they’re pretty standard island wear. I also knew their connection to the UK because well, that’s one of the things you’d get requests for if you were going to UK. Marinas and Clark’s. It’s an island thing. But what I didn’t know that the back story actually traced back to Norway! See the video to find out how!
This is a project I’ve been wanting to bring to you for a long time. Eventually we’ll shoot in all of the countries too, but in the mean time show me your love & support and let me know if you’re interested in seeing more ‘N A Perfect World: Rack Story / Back Story©
