People of Jerusalem – a Photo Diary

Jerusalem is a mecca where so many different religions intersect and in no way is this more apparent than the people. The old city is divided into pretty distinct quarters, the Armenian Quarter, Christian Quarter, Jewish Quarter and Muslim Quarter, each teeming with life and at times, fraught with tension. And each, attracting millions of religious pilgrims each year. Makes for great people watching. Click through below as I people watch through all four quarters.

“Up in the Air” at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art

Today is First Saturday at the Brooklyn Museum in my hometown and I wanted to highlight an amazing exhibit that went up in March 2015 at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. Tom Friedman’s “Up in the Air” installation is a mesmerizing display of 650 small sculptures of everyday items hanging in the Lightfall at the center of the new museum building. In bold, eye-catching colors, of things like a Cross, a white picket fence, bandaids, a dildo, Coors light six-pack, Friedman’s work is a transfixing commentary on consumerism and pop-culture seemingly floating in mid-air. There is also another captivating exhibit in their photography pavilion: a selection of the works of Robert Capa. The first time I saw an Anndra Neen piece was when on friend, Kyleigh Kuhn and I was instantly obsessed. I’m an accessories addict and Anndra Neen takes the metal worked accessory game to a whole new level. I’m partial to the brand’s crossbody bags. It’s wearable art really.
