Traveller News: Complete Traveller Antiquarian Bookstore Closing

I came across some sad news while reading the New York Times yesterday: The Complete Traveller Antiquarian Bookstore on Madison ave. and 35th street is closing on Monday. This is a real loss to NYC-based nomads like myself. Immediately my two friends, Aaron and Naomi came to mine. I hope they had a chance to visit this incredible store before it closes. Owned by a travel-writing couple since 1984, the store was filled with travel guides both new and old, from Frommer’s to rare vintages from the 1800s.
As a kid, one of my favorite books was a giant world atlas with every page being dedicated to a country, and when I got a globe in 4th grade? It was an absolutely game-changer. Even now, one of my favorite books to skim through for travel inspiration is Judith Schalansky’s Atlas of Remote Islands: Fifty Islands I Have Not Visited and Never Will.

If you can, stop by The Complete Traveller Antiquarian bookstore before it closes tomorrow!

199 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10016. 10am – 6pm
