Through asking people, reading travel sites, this is the time of year when I figure out what places I’ll hit up on my ever expanding travel bucket list. One of my favorite resources, the New York Times’ annual 52 Places to Go in 2017.

I came across some sad news while reading the New York Times yesterday: The Complete Traveller Antiquarian Bookstore on Madison ave. and 35th street is closing on Monday. This is a real loss to NYC-based nomads like myself. Immediately my two friends, Aaron and Naomi came to mine. I hope they had a chance to visit this incredible store before it closes. Owned by a travel-writing couple since 1984, the store was filled with travel guides both new and old, from Frommer’s to rare vintages from the 1800s. As a kid, one of my favorite books was a giant world atlas with every page being dedicated to a country, and when I got a globe in 4th grade? It was an absolutely game-changer. Even now, one of my favorite books to skim through for travel inspiration is Judith Schalansky’s Atlas of Remote Islands: Fifty Islands I Have Not Visited and Never Will.
