Happy Labour Day from Curaçao

Processed with Snapseed.

Happy Labour Day ‘NAPW readers! Thanks for hanging with me through another season. Speaking of that… it’s the time of year when suddenly those posts are flooding your feed. You know, those about “what a wonderful summer it’s been,” and waxing on about “summer coming to an end.” As a summer solstice baby (June 24th!) this elicits the biggest eye-roll from me. See, I was born on one of the longest days of the year and I think I approach life with that attitude. In 9th grade, a new kid in my grade said that I reminded him of “summer.” That wouldn’t be the last time I heard something like that and I take it as the highest compliment. One of my favorite quotes is from Henry James,

“Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”

I even had that engraved on a gold iPod! Here’s the thing, yea, the season summer comes to an end, but why does your spontaneity and joy of life that summer seems to bring have to stop? Spring is new life, but summer is life is at its peak. So my wish to you, from this beautiful Caribbean island of Curaçao is for an endless summer. Keep the sun warming your face, the wind blowing through your hair, tan lines, smiles and that “up for anything” attitude.
