    Being Black American in Paris

    by 'N A Perfect World...

Heading to Paris in 2017 was a pivotal moment in my life.  I originally wrote about the idea of being Black American in Paris in 2019. It’s still a piece that I get a lot of outreach about. So I decided to re-edit the piece and release it again on the blog in conjuction with a podcast episode I have coming out on Paris...

  • Italy Announces New Digital Nomad Visa

    by 'N A Perfect World...

In order to aid with tourism revitalization and slow tourism in particular, in May, Italy will be announcing a year-long renewable digital nomad visa to non EU citizens. Years ago, when looking into residency permits in Italy, I found the process a bit archaic in regards to today’s world and digital nomads. One of the standards of self-employment required you to invest a couple...

The Perfect Weekend in Taormina, Sicily

    by 'N A Perfect World...

Updated from original post March 15, 2022 Delta’s non-stop flight from JFK to Catania landed earlier this week (May 21st) with as much fan fare as you’d expect. I’m talking a water archway welcoming the plane on the runway in the tradition of blessing an inagural flight, food and music. I’ve always said Sicily is the Italy Americans want to see when they come over here...

Sedona Energy Vortexes – A Guide to Perfect Vibrations

    by 'N A Perfect World...

Here’s a trip to consider for the start of your new year: the Sedona energy vortexes. Sometimes you travel for enlightenment or peace of mind. To find yourself. This can happen on any trip but there are certain parts of the world that are known as spiritual centers to “speed up” the process. Pilgrimages to Mecca. Seekers in India. I love this time of year. One of my favorite light I love this time of year. One of my favorite light displays in #Bergamo is at @lamarianna1953 — it gives me that same magical warm light feeling I get when approaching the Rock Plaza in NYC. To all the people who spend hours and money (thinking about the light bill of the people in Dyker Heights Brooklyn blows my mind) to give us all this feeling, thank you!

Blue loves having her own table that we meet her at and Michele, the family's home decor expert loves the style of it. Lalo is having a site wide sale until Dec 2 of up to 40%.

I filled out my absentee ballot and dropped it off I filled out my absentee ballot and dropped it off in Milan a few weeks ago. Expats know, during times like these there's always that joke from friends and family back home, "If they win, I'm moving to Europe with you!" But there's a clear trickle down. The USA doesn't exist in a bubble. This is no longer the luxury we had of a campaign of hope in the past, but what feels like a fight for survival.
I'm voting because I'm a big believer in when someone shows you who they are... BELIEVE THEM THE FIRST TIME. I'm voting because I'm not playing endgame with my daughter's future. Or with yours. I am so proud to be an American. The complexities of us, the size of our beautiful country, the people I meet when traveling. I still believe in the great American experiment. That same fervor that has this election cycle so crazy, that chaotic energy is what drives our "can do" and innovation. It's also what makes me excited to "come home and make things happen" after months abroad. I'm voting for Madame @vp @kamalaharris and @timwalz because I trust them with my future, my rights as a woman, the restoration of the American middle class, and building a future that restores a reenvisioned #AmericanDream. Fearmongering, division and a nihilistic view of the USA isn't what I signed up. Today is #VoteEarlyDay. Do your duty.

Photos taken in Puerto Rico. One of my favorite places in the US.

Ciao, Sicilia! I mean even that alone sounds sexy, no? Dolce & Gabbana built their brand around it. As an American living in Italy, it can be easy to fall into that La Dolce Vita myth. Everything is beautiful, everywhere is magical. Though, being primarily based in Northern Italy, I’ll let you in on something: Southern Italy has my heart. From my time in Puglia in my early 20s, to now, Sicily is decidely my happy place in Italy. Maybe it’s the island life, I know it’s the hospitality, food, people, ‘tude. The people are warmer, their accents more melodic, more swaggy. Tuscany is beautiful, but I truly believe, Sicily is what Americans want when they come to Italy. A lot of Italian-Americans are Southern or Sicilian… so maybe it’s the familiar? Did you know that in 1945 and 1946 a strong Sicilian separatist movement campaigned for Sicily to be admitted as a U.S. state? Black Americans, you might be drawn to Sicily too… from True Romance to Little White Lies, are they those...
