I interviewed dear friend, Antica Pesa proprietor, Francesco Panella. A man after my heart, Francesco is as charming as he is good looking and he owns one of my favorite restaurant companies in the world. That’s right, I said the world.
I did notice that all of my friends that called Miami home were incredible, so I knew there had to be more to Miami than just South Beach. In fact, most of my friends that live there always say that they barely go to the beach at all! So on my last trip this February, I decided to “live like a local” under the guidance of some friends from the Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.
Anyone who has spoken to me about my travels recently knows that I have a new love affair with Colombia. There will definitely be more posts on the blog coming soon about my amazing adventures in South America this winter. But in the meantime, wet your palates with my guide to Medellín for Fathom! Colombia is having a moment. Between talk of Netflix’s Narcos and Steve Harvey’s unfortunate blunder at the Miss Universe pageant, hardly a day goes by without the Latin American country being referenced. Drug trafficking and beautiful women aside, there is so much more to naturally rich Colombia than pop culture may lead you to believe, including Medellín, a city positioning itself as the next art and design capital of South America.
Joined by two foodie girlfriends, Raquel and Katie, I ventured to Chinatown restaurant Nyonya, one of the few places in NYC specializing in Singaporean & Peranakan food. I guess that’s the amazing thing about living in NY huh. It being such a cultural melting pot, there’s usually someplace that can satisfy your cravings.
Let’s toast to the underdog and impress your guests with these delicious recipes and see what I’ll be wearing this May 5th. (see Donald, another reason to scrap that silly wall idea 😉)
I had a pretty chill weekend in Nevis and I wrote about it for one of my favorite travel sites, Fathom Way to Go. I’m going to be posting a photo diary from this Nevis trip soon so stay tuned. While I hated waking up at the crack of dawn to see the start of the marathon, it was pretty incredible to see the island waking up and to catch this beautiful shot of Nevis Peak from the beach. Here’s a snippet from the article. Read the rest on Fathom for more about which British Royal, cuisine and the most important thing you should do while in Nevis. There are few places better suited to “getting away from it all” than Nevis. You’ll find the natural beauty of the West Indies, some of the nicest luxury hotels and restaurants in the Caribbean, and absolute discretion — it served as a refuge for one of the most notable members of the British royal family (but more on that later).
Here’s the second part of my Periscope Q&A on traveling to Havana, Cuba where I talk about the food, the people and what it was like visiting a Communist country.
Few designers are as representative of the ‘N A Perfect World lifestyle as Cynthia Rowley. Every year I look forward to my Sayulita sister’s newest collection of wet-suits that are the perfect combination of fashion and functionality. I was thrilled to interview her for Brooklyn Magazine’s newest platform, Taste Talks.
Koreatown is in another stage of evolution now, becoming a real foodie destination with cuisine and dining experience to be reckoned with. I can’t think of a better example of this than the restaurant we chose, Her Name is Han.
From food, culture and influencers and a beautiful layout, The Tig is definitely an inspiration to me here at ‘N A Perfect World so when founder and amazing actress Meghan Markle asked me to share my love of my home away from home, Sayulita, I jumped at the chance!
