It started with Grace Jones at a gala in Milan and ended in Italy’s Boca Raton. In between, there was a possible robbery, a strike and that glorious feeling of why not that can only be captured by Italian sprezzatura. Listen to this week’s edition of Never Date a Traveler and find out how I really detox after Fashion Month.
There’s no better place for young love than Athens, Milan, Rome and Lake Como.
From last week’s post, you know my excitement about launching my podcast, Never Date a Traveler exploring dating and romance while you’re traveling. This time around, I’m chatting about a date that would make middle school Nneya so proud, skateboarding, a great band, slushies. Epic night, have a listen.
I’m excited to announce I’ve finally gotten around to launching my new podcast, Never Date a Traveler, violable on Soundcloud and, as of today, on iTunes! Which is pretty awesome, someone can choose to listen to me on ITUNES! I really believe the fastest way to learn a new language or to learn about a culture is to date someone of that culture. Latin and Spanish definitely helped me pick up Italian quickly while studying in Milan, but dating Italians no doubt expedited the process. To ignore that being a charming girl with a good smile doesn’t help me when I travel would be silly. At times, it even gives me access to people and events I otherwise wouldn’t have access to, like the perfect fondue spot in the Swiss Alps, or an artist rave in Milan. There are few things I love more than story-time with my best girlfriends recounting these adventures. Dating is something I have always wanted to cover on ‘N A Perfect World, but I’m one for an epic whirlwind romance …
While in Lisbon, I stayed at the famed Palacio Belmonte. This place was so hard to leave that I actually ended up spending an extra day in Lisbon with my mom. Check out a small bit of what it was like waking up in the Padre Himalaya suite in the video above and here’s a sneak peak.
Vijat is an artist, drawing you into another world, another space with his photography (the sets that he creates are marvelous) so naturally I thought of Brooklyn Farmacy for our shoot.
It’s my favorite time of the fashion year. The Chanel resort collection! Whether in Dallas, the South of France the French house spares no expense invoking exactly the essence of why resort collections were created. This year’s exotic locale was non other than place of the mo’ Havana, Cuba. I definitely wish I had Chanel resort for my strut down the Paseo del Prado. The fashion: So French-Cuban. That beret is so Parisian, non? But so Cuban, remember the image of Che Guevara. Panama hats with Chanel camellias, the accessories are on point! Fedoras and cohíbas. There is even some revolutionary nods with a military green shorts set. The collection is so wearable and so easy. Chanel’s new It Girls? Speaking of French-Cuban, Ibeyi, musical group consisting of twin sisters Lisa-Kaindé and Naomi Díaz opened the show. You might have seen these beauties in Lemonade. Their performance is especially poignant given that their father is the late famed Cuban percussionist, Anga Díaz. Fashion and travel? This is one fashion party I have serious FOMO about. …
Last December, my friend Sophie and I shot a fun GQ.com video for those guys out there really trying to demystify what’s going on we ladies brains. Want to find out what I think of man buns, tramp stamps and more? Here you have it, What Women Want
If you know me, you know that swimsuits are my power suits! And I love discovering new swimwear brands. One of my latest obsessions is made by Dawn, a brand that I discovered via instagram. Their soft colours and nature inspired prints enhanced by the beautiful imagery of their lookbooks are what traveling beach babe dreams are made of.
